MANILA, Philippines – A pair of unfamiliar Filipino pool players advanced into the round of 32 in the World Pool Association World 10-Ball Championships Thursday at the Philippine International Convention Center.

Demosthenes Pulpul narrowly defeated world women’s champion Jasmin Ouschan of Austria 9-8, and Leonardo Didal came away with a 9-5 win against Zhang Shu-Chun of China in the afternoon session to become the first local players to bounce their Round One opponents.
