Marichu Suarez Baoanan, 39, claims she was abused, tormented and not paid the correct wages while working for the family of former Ambassador Lauro Baja of Philippine Mission to the United Nations and a multi-awarded Filipino diplomat.

Baoanan said she was made to work at least 18 hours a day, seven days a week, with no days off. She said she escaped the household with the help of a “good Samaritan."

According to Baoanan's complaint, her meals were “leftovers" and sometimes Baja’s daughter would watch her eat, “humiliating" and “preventing her from eating further."

Baja denied the accusations and threatened to file a counter suit against the Filipina maid, whom he said was part of a demolition job meant to tarnish his reputation.
