The world seemed
to be infatuated with Manny Pacquiao in 2008 as his exploits continue
to fill the pages of various sports and boxing websites.
Pacquiao fought
and won in three different weight divisions in 2008, with his eighth-round
victory against future Hall of Famer Oscar De La Hoya as the crowning
glory of his 53-fight professional career.
From gracing
the pages of the Asian edition of Readers Digest magazine, to being
named by Sports Illustrated and British newspaper The Sun as their
top choice for “fighter of the year" honors, Pacquiao
is undoubtedly one of the best boxers of his time.
And as 2008
is about to end, which was a banner year for the southpaw boxer
known as Pacman, Pacquiao collected numerous “boxer of the
year" awards from various media entities around the world.
So what is in
store for the charismatic fighter in 2009? A looming fight with
British boxing sensation Ricky Hatton, with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
willing to go out of retirement to also challenge Pacquiao. -
