At least one million tourists visit the Chengdu Research Base of GiantPanda Breeding in Sichuan province every year.
Aside from giant pandas, red pandas (which actually belong to the racoon family) are also bred in the center.
The center also houses several peacocks.
The gift shop sells different panda merchandise, from T-shirts to stuffed toys.
The survival rate of pandas in the breeding center is 90 percent,compared to 50 percent elsewhere.
